Dave Lizor and I have not done a show together in over a year. So when I got booked at R Coffee House in Wichita, I asked him to open for me.
We both wanted to stay Friday night to help the Stage 11 Crew set up at the South side of the Winfield City Lake. But we got the main Green Room set up and the storm was rolling in later.
So we drove to Tony and Lyda's in Wichita to get the camp dust off and then to a very cool little coffeehouse. It is right by the river park. Great little stage up by the window for music on many nights. I brought an extra mic and stand so I could sing harmony on some of Dave's Golden Oldies, like "Hand Me Down Music" and "KC Southern Line". What a blast.
The rain kept some people away, but we were warm and dry as the streets filled up with rivers of water, just 3 feet from the front door of the coffeehouse. Then back to Tony's for a good night's sleep before heading back to camp. Where would we be without the kindness of strangers and old friends?
